I am a graduate student working under Dr. Terran Lane in machine
learning. My research focuses on unsupervised classification of
heterogeneous data with hidden variables. Currently, I'm trying to identify
sub-types of schizophrenia by clustering patient behevioural data.
I'm currently maintaining a small set of vim scripts to use with the Ciao programming langauge
My non-academic interests include reading (Currently reading: Practical Common
Lisp by Paul Graham, Fudoki by Kij Johnson, and Startide Rising by David Brin),
choral music, guitar, writing,
video games (Currently Valkyrie Profile II: Silmeria).
The writings and drawings sections are mostly gone for now:
I'll add/update after my next big chunk of break.
If you were looking for an interesting geek's page, I don't have one.. but I
know someone who does. At least,
if you're interested in comics or pretty art. Or John Denver. I'm not so sure
I should be promoting the John Denver though...
Oh, and the hat is purely cosmetic. I promise.
Finally, I'm on a new project to find easy, quick, at least nominally
healthy recipes that can be made with mostly cheap ingredients with long
shelf lives:
Avani's Grad Student Recipe Site
Old stuff:
Fall 2004, I TA-ed CS152: Programming Fundamentals for CS Majors.
Labs, office hours, and other useful tidbits can be found on the CS152 TA page.
