Looking back down the clearing. I kept going, but the hill was very persistant. It wouldn't flaten out. Then I began to realize that I had made a mistake. I didn't bring lunch. On a map this looked a bit more flat, and had it been I would have been fine, but this turned out to be the most persistant up-hill climb I think I've ever done. I never made it to my destination, where I supposidly would have seen the lake I would visit the following day. After about 45 more minutes of up-hill battling, I had gotten just into the snow line, but I began sugar crashing. I took the better part of valor and turned around. After seconds I realized it was cold. I had gotten down to a t-shirt and no helmit going up, but going down I wound up with a leather jacket over a heavy fleace and a helmit. My hands got cold, though. I was down about 15 minutes later. Then, I found a place to have some lunch -- weiswurst. Yum.
