Exercise: Swap characters in a story

• Interchange the roles of two characters in a (preferably well-known) story. What would happen if Hanzel and Gretzel were out to get the witch? How would the story be different if Prince Charming was sent off to the dwarves and Sleeping Beauty was the one that ended up rescuing them.
• This would fit nicely into a discussion of what sort of roles or characters that we generally find in stories. Are there certain trends to the assigning of characters to roles? What might that say about our society? We might also look into how these roles change during different periods of history and between different cultures, which might be a nice bridge to next week's material on stories within other cultures.
