Tomas Vokoun played quite well in goal, stopping 32 of L.A.'s 34 shots on goal.
Good defense limited the Kings to only 2 goals in the game.
LOWLIGHTS:
Predators failed to score their first goal of the season.
Predators managed only a meager 12 shots on goal in the first 2 periods combined.
Predators gave up a power-play goal early in the 1st period.
This was the Predators' 2nd consecutive opening day shutout loss.
COMMENTS: Overall, the Predators' offense was pathetic throughout the first 2 periods of the game. The Kings needed only 1 period to get their first 12 shots on goal; in contrast, the Predators took 2 periods to get that many shots on goal. At least the Predators' offense in the 3rd period was an improvement. Also, I give a lot of credit to Kings' goaltender Stephane Fiset for making some brilliant saves against the Predators. But the main issue about this game was that the Predators could have provided a lot more effort than they did.
