Suffice it to say that PatrisParty featured many activities that the outside world was probably better shielded from. Big black tarps were hung across the front of EastDorm (sort of a la WestDorm THX Night style, only with Dayglo-painted decorations) for the purpose of shielding sensitive viewers (if only we'd done something similar to avoid traumatizing the Casies with NP-Complete). Then it started raining, and more tarp was hung across the top of the dorm (stretching from second floor balcony to second floor balcony) to keep party guests dry. Actually, the tarps above the party and below the second floor were hung there before the rain began. The idea behind the tarps was that nobody would have to have to see the party who didn't want to, not even while walking to their room. IIRC, the only part of East dorm that was visible from inside the tarps was the first floor fishbowls. These same tarps were later used to wrap Kingston in a BigPrank. That was during PreFroshWeekend '98. Sadly, CampSec tore them down (stupid and potentially dangerous, since they didn't know how things were fixed up there), they were put up again, and people got caught. |
