== SpiceCake == === Ingredients === * 2 cups flour * 1/2 tsp baking soda * 1/4 tsp salt * 2 tsp cinnamon (plus more to taste) * 1/2 tsp ground cloves * 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg * 1 1/2 cups sugar * 1/4 cup butter * 1/4 cup vegetable oil * 1/2 tsp vanilla * 2 eggs * 1 1/2 cups buttermilk (aka, 1 1/2 cups milk plus 1 1/2 tsp lemon juice or vinegar) === Instructions === * Preheat oven to 350 degrees. * Beat butter and oil together. * Cream butter and oil mixture with sugar and vanilla. * Add eggs, beating after each one. * Mix flour, baking soda, baking powder and spices in a separate bowl. * Scoop some of the flour mixture into the sugar mixture and mix well. The add some of the milk and mix well. Repeat this process until all of the flour and all of the milk are mixed in. * Eat :-) * Pour half of the batter into a round cake pan. Bake for about 30 min (until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean). Bake the other half the same way.
