Thunder is my linux box. I bought it sometime in the Summer of 97, just before my freshman year at HMC. At the time it was a pretty nice computer, and now, although its only 200 MHz, its still faster than most Pentium's because I don't waste any of its processing power on Microsoft products. For the same reason, its much cheaper to maintain. If you want specs, I'm running Debian/GNU Linux 2.1. My machine has 3 Gb of disk space, 64 Mb of RAM, and 4 Mb video ram. It is a 200 MHz Pentium MMX with a SCSI hard drive. Thunder is primarily used as a linux box (telnet server, web server, ftp server, etc), an excellent interface with other X systems, and a code center for miscellaneous projects and research. So far, I'm quite happy with it. If you want, check out thunder's own webpage.
2002 Update: Thunder's not doing so well anymore. But thats somewhat expected, because its really old. At the moment its sort of on the shelf (behind my desk), because without steady ethernet having a server up doesn't make much sense. I'm trying to save its cycles for a better time, like when I have cable-modem internet. Even then, though, I've had a number of troubles -- broken fan, flaky keyboard, boot up problems. It was a loyal machine, but its days are numbered.
