HE KNOWS Therian looks around at his audience, smiling benignly. Therian removes his harp, plucking a faint chord in preparation. Therian begins to play slowly. Therian gently speeds up, letting the music rise in dim melancholy. Therian starts the song: One man, a child--and madness A heart destroyed by sadness She hurts but has another The child: without a mother Therian moves slowly, his voice ever so soft, into refrain. It's not the same as his memories the wine, the beach, the chilling breeze Yeah, it's not the same as those loving nights of when his life was paradise Therian continues the song after a brief harp solo. The man is always crying His daughter wonders why Too young to understand him She's why he's still alive Therian lets the words sink in before moving on. It's not the same as his memories the wine, the beach, the chilling breeze Yeah, it's not the same as those loving nights of when his life was paradise Therian smiles softly and then continues. She hurts him with her laughter He feels a throbbing pain She hugs him 'bye' each morning He knows its not the same Therian finishes slowly: "He knows its not the same." Therian silences his harp and then tucks it away into his cloak. Therian bows quietly.
