A good example of this is how Rudin proves things in the RealAnalysis text.. because everything is *clearly* so obvious it should be left to the reader.

Some things seem to happen whenever needed and with no effort.

Sometimes something that seems automagical to one person is actually a lot of work for another person.

A good example of this is how Rudin proves things in the RealAnalysis text.. because everything is *clearly* so obvious it should be left to the reader.

For example, the auto-formatting features of MicroSoft? Word... ick!

I disagree--to call Word's formatting automagic is to degrade the term. Things that happen AutoMagically are generally good things that are appreciated. Perhaps the only thing that happens AutoMagically is that the auto-formatting features are turned off in my presence...not that I'm around MicroSoft? Word much anyway. --MichaelVrable
