You know who you are. Just come out and admit it.
Plays
way too much CraCk
?.
You might be a CrackWhore if . . .:
- All your waking hours that aren't used playing crack . . . are spent talking about crack
- You have pulled all-nighters or near-all-nighters because of crack...
- on school nights or nights before exams or projects were due
- What about before trying to drive for several hours? And then hitting the median on the freeway because of it?
- You've ever lost more than one friend because of crack
- Ever participated in a CrackAThon?. A what-a-thon?
- You had a GameBoy at your senior graduation
- You had a GameBoy at your own wedding
- You've ever given a complete lecture on the pros and cons of various emulators
- When your GirlFriend says "Look, it's either me or the VideoGames", you say, "Can this discussion wait until after I'm done saving the universe?" Don't you mean your former GirlFriend? Actually, it should really be more of a hypothetical GirlFriend.
- So, what if your hypothetical GirlFriend is also a CrackWhore? Are you just doomed? Yep.
- Wow, that explains a lot.
- So what if your GirlFriend is a CrackWhore and you're not?
- I have to assume that this is a hypothetical question, but if such a person actually existed, I suppose he would be allowed to join the support group.
- You turn your GirlFriend INTO a CrackWhore (for t3h win!!!!)
- You were a proud member of the GameCube Collective (You will be assimilated.)
- You express feelings using VideoGame metaphors
- You give advice on dealing with people or relationships using VideoGame metaphors
- You're still playing AngBand or any other RogueLike?
- You're frightened by capital "D"s, "U"s, and "L"s.
- You're more frightened of "&"s than "U"s.
- Actually, I'm not particularly frightened of the average '&', as in NetHack, one can easily get an allied djinni, character '&', by rubbing a magic lamp - and magic lamps are far more common than major demons. - AdamField
- Obviously you've never met Demogorgon.
- Well, yeah, there is the chance of the named demons getting summoned for one reason or another... but they're generally neutral in that case. And no, if you're wondering, I've never gotten all that far - despite years of playing, I tend to do something fatally stupid by about dungeon level 10 every time.
- Also obviously, your experience with "&"s is from Nethack, not old-school Angband.
- You have code or make bug-fixes for a RogueLike?, or your own variant
- Your copies of CivII? and TheSims? are left at home in the hands of younger siblings so you won't ITR. -> (this is more pathetic if the game is sub-par like CivIII? and you still have to leave it in safer hands for fear of ITR-ing)
- You've ever played the boardgame version of Civ and finished. Even once counts. Don't know if I agree with this... the boardgame version seems to be addictive for a much smaller percentage of players than Sid Meier's games, where addictive is defined as "willing to repeat the experience" --AvaniGadani Avani has a point. Civ the boardgame is a TimeSuck, but it is not truly crack.-AlexBobbs
- You've ever begged someone to play video games so you couldn't.
- You keep your sleep schedule shifted from that of the rest of your family for the express purpose of concealing the extent of your VideoGame playing
- You can solve more than one nontrivial puzzle whose solution is best described/derived in terms of permutation groups
- You've ever played a series through in chronological or numerical order before playing the new release.
- You get your Sims to have just...one...more...promotion before you can continue working on TheSis.
- You have to beat the game with all permutations of characters before you're done with it. This does not exclude replayability at a later point.
- You install a copy of XP just so you can play a game that won't run under VMware, even after shelling out money for a commercial X server..
- You have ever managed to create a 60th level DiabloIi character in a *week*.
- You have ever volunteered to complete sidequests in someone else's save file.
- You spend most of your FreeTime one summer designing a campaign world... and only complete enough to run a campaign in one small region.
- You felt the need to have a formula to calculate the probability of any White Wolf roll (ask CurtisVinson or SteveHaas about how assy this is)
- Your definition of procrastination is doing work
- You feel a need to analyze every game to breakage
- The only reason you've even heard of John Madden or Tony Hawk is because they have videogames named after them
- You show much stronger emotions while playing crack than you do during any of your other daily activities.
- If there's an in-depth-inner-workings guide to a game that most people find overkill, you think it's not comprehensive enough. (e.g. the FinalFantasyFour damage guide, the "Guts" section of the StarS helpfile...)
- You give d20 statistics to real-world events and have a tendency to say things like , "before handling ethidium bromide, make sure to wear gloves, and then level up a few times to boost your saving throws against poison".
- You've ever participated in a VideoGameRace.
- ... more than once.
- ... after significant amounts of practice.
- ... while wagering on the outcome.
- You've moved large pieces of furniture or borrowed a digital camera in an effort to preserve the state of a BoardGame?.
- You've been more concerned about your D&D campaign than your homework.
- You play WorldOfWarcrack, say no more.
- Contested by AkashRakholia on the grounds that FF11 takes much more time
- You have proposed to play a game, and people rejected it because you would dominate
- You have argued with any of the points on this list.
- Feel free to add more . . .
List: (don't forget to add "CategoryCrackWhore" to your page!!)
- JoshMiddendorf (I wish I could say I was, like, the über-CrackWhore, but mostly, I was the one who made this page, and got first billing)
- AlexBobbs (Yes, it's true, [I am a videogame journalist who interviews scantily-clad women.]))
- JeffBrenion (I have willpower. Really, I do!)
- AaronHomer (I don't spend ALL of my time playing video games...really)
- MicahSmukler (extremely specialized)
- CurtisVinson
- JustinPava (No, he's not JUST AndrewSchoonmaker's crack dealer - although sometimes that ends up working the other way around too, I suppose) You don't say? ;->
- AndrewSchoonmaker (thanks, in part, to everyone who kicked in for the PS2)
- CalPierog (CrackFrosh 2002)
- BillHewitt (CrackFrosh 2003) The CrackFrosh has been killed, long live the CrackFrosh? (I'm not dead yet! -BH)
- WillShipley (a.k.a. Cracked)
- EvilSouthie (yeah, yeah)
- AvaniGadani (shhh..)
- AdamSkalenakis (You know that you are sad when you play crack from 9-5 at night, then get back to your room and play unreal on your comp)
- AnneMarra (doot doo doo)
- NickJohnson (Avani called me the devil for a reason...)
- YourMom
- MarshallPierce (I'm sad that I did not get CrackFrosh 2003 designation)
- SeleneTan (Do I count? I'm not as obsessive about beating/replaying games, but I've pulled many near-all-nighters for the sakes of games.)
- ChrisErickson(Dealer too!)
- AdamField (Not insanely obsessive, but I think I'm obsessive enough. I really do need to go to CrackInTheAC more often... EDIT much later: now I play WoW. Enough said.)
- EricBerglund (I live in FroshCrackSuite, do you need to know anything else?)
- GregSandstrom (I like true combat (and that other game, with the guns))
- MikeBuchanan (hoping for CrackFrosh 2004)
- No you're not. This works like graduation years. If you were to be named CrackFrosh, it would be for 2005. It should also be noted that no CrackFrosh was designated for 2004. In fact, there weren't even dorm awards.
- My mistake. Hoping for 2005, then.
- There were dorm awards, but CrackFrosh wasn't on it. In any case I nominate JonBeall. -VictorWang
- For 2004 or 2005? And my name wasn't even on this list until now. --JiBB
- I think 2004 would suite you better, especially because you aren't a frosh in 2005. And I think you've played enough crack (that wasn't only Halo) to warrant you being on this list.
- VictorWang (I like mines)
- JiBB (Now somewhat reformed.)
- ConorMcNassar (if you're not walking out into the morning sun after your CraCk?, what's the point?)
- BrianKirkpatrick (on step 6 of 7 of the CrackWhores? Anonymous program, mostly due to the overwhelming demand of schoolwork)
- DuctTapeGuy (now with willpower, but still loves the crack. Also cracky enough to get his GirlFriend ADDICTED to AngBand)
- MattWalsh (Never actually added myself here, despite adding the tag to my page, whoops)
- RichardGarfinkel (I can stop whenever I want!)
- KevinOelze (I play WoW? Enough said? Nooooot quite..., CrackFrosh of 2005-06)
- AkashRakholia (227 days 15 hours 20 minutes 4 seconds of play time on FF11 having owned it for 3 years, 'nuff said)
- MartinPyne (Too late.... Blizzard's corruption has taken hold.)
- TrevinMurakami (the one who actually made co_libra after, during, and post much wanking about it needing to be done, then how broken it is)
- KwangKetcham (revived StarCrack)
- BobChen (helped revive StarCrack)
- StevenBerler (plays all major cracks)
- EliYoung (needs some WillPower?)
- JeremyWestfahl (I've been an avid gamer since I was 3, and I'm reluctant to talk about things that aren't video game-related)
- TrystanKoch (pts 1,2,4,6,9,11,15,16,21,28,29,35 so far)
- DanCiliske (sleep... eh, who needs it)
- NikFloyd (I can't believe I wasn't on this list yet, since I was CrackFrosh 2007. It may just be my failure to be a WikiWhore.)
- MarzBarnes (2020 wtf is this page even?)
