Geoff's Favorite Links
Why use Xmarks(*) to keep track of sites when you can just write your own
webpage instead? :)
This is a collection of all the links i like to check on a
daily/weekly/monthly basis. Everything except for web comics that is. They
have their own page of links.
*: Xmarks is for when you need to reboot your computer but still have 50
tabs of TVTropes and Cracked.com articles waiting to be read =)
Daily links: stuff i tend to check on a daily basis
- Google Everyone uses Google
right? This is the second
place i check after i fail to find info about anything on....
- Wikipedia The
deletionists continue to piss me off, but
this is still the first place i check when i want to look something random
up.
- Dictionary.com Not a
bad reference site, if you've got
ads blocked at least.
- GMail I don't know why i'm
listing all these google
things
- Google
Calendar when i can always just select them
- Moogle from the main google page
- Slashdot lots of interesting
science news, and the
trolls are slightly more literate than on other random sites :)
- Slashdot Games This is the
only subsection of Slashdot
that i read on a regular basis.
- Audible.com they don't always
have new books every day
(at least not in the SF/F section) but i can't resist checking anyways :)
Game sites: When the games section of Slashdot just isn't good
enough
Reference sites: more specilized reference sites
Political sites: How often i check these varies, usually
depending on where we are in the election cycle
Weekly stuff: these are sites that i ought to check at least
once a week, just to see what's up
- GOG Good Old Games. A lot of older
games, revamped to work with modern systems and totally DRM free.
- Stardock Impulse Mostly
DRM free games.
- Steam Heavily DRMed
games, though it's supposedly "unobtrusive."
- OCRemix Remixed video game music
- KSPC Stream It seems
that the default Nexus One/Android music player can't handle m3u streams.
Maybe clicking this link will let me listen to the Video Game Music Show
on Fridays.
Montly stuff: the sites i ought to check at least once a month.
Except for all the financial institution sites, no point making things
easier than necessary for the scammers :)
I'm Bored sites: stuff i tend to pull up whenever i need to kill
time
Online stores: This is the section for all the stores that
didn't get listed somewhere else.
- Amazon
- Ebay
- Etsy I've only ever bought anything
from here once so far, but they have lots of cool and unusual stuff.
- Overstock.com I've been told
this can be a good place to shop, but i haven't really looked into it much
yet.
