Rosie
Rosie Wacha is my girlfriend from Harvey Mudd College. She's a member of the class of 2003 and intends to major in computer science. She lives in northern California with a whole lot of animals, including Jason, a female parrot, that she brought down to college. Check out her homepage.
2002: We stopped dating since I finished up Harvey Mudd, but we are still friends. Fall 2001 she studied abroad in Australia. Spring 2002 she's at Santa Cruz with her sister, whose in the Army or Navy or something and going to graduate soon. She should be back at Harvey Mudd next year.
Kitz
Kitz is my other girlfriend, but she lives at home with my parents in New Mexico. She's almost 20, which is damn old for a cat, and prefers expensive cat food, half and half, and bathroom heaters.
2002: Kitz passed away Memorial Day 2000. I was working at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory at the time. It was a very sad day. She was a very good cat. I wrote some poems about her somewhere. She lived to a good age, for a cat. She was 20.
Jason
Jason, or JayJay, is Rosie's parrot. She's quite a character. She likes peanuts (and many other tasty chewables like Rosie's earrings), wandering around on people's beds, and flying about when you least expect it.
2002: Sadly, JayJay died of some very bizarre sickness Fall 2000. First, I think the vets in Claremont suck. Second, I think somehow she got extremely ill. JayJay was 20 or so, just like me and Rosie, but parrots usually live to be 9o or 100! Overall, it was pretty stressful and tragic, and I'm still a bit unhappy thinking back on the experience and wondering if I should or could have done anything different.

Interests in Academia (top)
So, as of New Year's 2000 I'm a physics and math/cs joint double major at Harvey Mudd College. With respect to both subjects, I prefer more theoretical topics. I dig theoretical computer science research, and am aiming for similar work in physics this coming summer (theoretical physics summer jobs for undergraduates are very hard to land, or even find). I also like psychology a fair amount, though I wouldn't say I'm intending to do much in the field aside from pondering the meaninglessness of life. Why physics? For me, physics is the heart of all the classical sciences. I like to know what's actually going on, and that's pretty much what physics is looking at. Why computer science? Modern CS deals with a lot of really cool mental puzzles which I like figuring out, and being a relatively new field they aren't all already solved. Why psychology? My interest in psychology stems from an intrigue in the unknown and, as with physics, my desire to figure things out. The mind is a physical system like any other, its just a bit more complicated than your typical cannon or kite. If you're interested in finding more about my academic experiences and plans, look at my academic pages: an academic overview, my future plans, and my research page.
2002 Update: For 2002 details, please see the new pages I promise I'll put up 'soon'. I'm mostly doing CS now, and only very theoretically. I'm sure there'll be a lot of explanation later.
