what is this?
This website is my little corner of the world wide web where I post the random happenings of my life as well as provide entertaining software, games, and photos.
where am I?
I am currently living in Munich, Germany, where I am pursuing my Masters in Cryptography at the Ludwig Maximilians University. Previously, I had been living in the Los Angeles area where I attended and graduated from Harvey Mudd College, one of the the finest Math and Science institutions in the world. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Joint Computer Science and Math with a concentration in Psychology.
what do I do?
My specialization is in Theoretical Mathematics and Computer Science with an emphasis on Artificial Intelligence and Cryptography. I also enjoy designing and implementing object-oriented programs of various sorts. My progamming language of choice at the moment is C++. In my opinion, C# is a more coherent language, but it lacks the ability to compile to native machine code which renders it less than optimal for game development. Other programming languages I know quite well are Java, Perl, SML, Scheme, and Python. Furthermore, I am experienced with MatLab, MySQL, and PHP/HTML.
what else?
I speak French very well and German at the conversational level, although it is improving every day. I have been programming for the past 12 years starting on a 286. I enjoy traveling and I have been around the world quite a few times as demonstrated by my photos section. For all my programming endeavors, I use the GNU g++ compiler and the SDL library. Back in 1999, I gave up on Windows and started using the Slackware Linux distribution, which is like trading in the family van for a luxury sedan. However, it did not take long for me to discover the joy that is the FreeBSD experience and in 2001, I traded in that luxury sedan for a fast, responsive, great-handling sports car :-)
